Doula’s create and hold essential space for the birthing person.

By definition, doulas provide non-medical physical and emotional support, education, and care throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum recovery. Truthfully, my role as your doula is that, but so much more. My role as your doula is to be exactly what YOU need in each moment. To be intuitive of your needs, respectful of your preferences, and tuned in for your individual pregnancy and birthing process. Just as every pregnancy and birth is unique, each of my clients comes to me with a unique perspective and history. By getting to know each client thoroughly in our prenatal appointments, I customize my doula services to what best suits you.

Education & Enlightenment

Our prenatal appointments, usually lasting 2-4 hours long, is the time we spend on educating and enlightening each other. You’ll educate me on who you are, what goals and dreams you have for this experience, and what fears and anxieties, if any, you are feeling and how we will work through them together. Together, we will establish your birth preferences, discuss a labor plan, preferred comfort measures, and much more, perhaps even concluding with massage and meditation. I’ll provide unbiased, non-medical guidance and information for any and all questions you may have regarding your experience, pregnancy, or birth in general. Although the internet has good intentions, it can often be a scary and misleading place for a pregnant person. While I wholeheartedly believe that knowledge is power, I am happy to weed through the noise to provide you with answers based in fact, research, and experience—never opinion.

Labor & Birth

While process of labor and childbirth can be physically and emotionally intense, it should also be one of the most positive and memorable experiences in life. I am here to ease the physical discomfort, and ensure your voice is heard. Multiple studies have shown that the continuous one-on-one support of a doula can decrease labor duration, reduce the use of pain medication, reduce the instance of cesarean sections, and lead to an over-all greater feelings of satisfaction with the birthing experience (Cochrane, 2013). It is this unwavering comfort and reassurance that promotes a calm and peaceful atmosphere and allows you to be present in the moment and focus on yourself and the arrival of your new baby. A doula strives to work in tandem with your medical birthing team and partner towards your birth goals, never as a replacement or substitution for other care providers, while also acting as a devoted advocate for the birthing person.

The Fourth Trimester

The period of time after your baby has arrived, known as the fourth trimester, is equally significant and profound as pregnancy and childbirth, but is often neglected when it comes to planning and support. It is a time of transitions and healing, while you and your child adjust in so many ways to a new way of life. It is a time of magnificent growth and change, and can be physically and emotionally intense. As you establish a new way of life for you and your family, I am here to help. Having an extra pair of hands that are there for the sole purpose to nurture and care for you and your baby can make a world of difference in those first few months. I am here to help with feeding, sleep, resources, and anything else to help you ease as seamlessly as possible into postpartum life.
